Subprime mortgages as a percentage of total mortgage originations was relatively constant through 2003, and didn't start to grow until 2004. Subprime mortgages didn't really take off until 2005-2006. Now compare this to a chart of the housing bubble:


So as everyone should know by now, the housing bubble wasn't the same thing as the subprime crisis.
